Just Dream It. Just Do It… Now

Hey everyone!

Lately I’ve been thinking about what I really want in life. I realised that I wanted to do a lot, that I dreamed a lot, but never took any action in getting where I wanted to be.

I am way too caught up in my comfort zone.

I started to think about what is holding me back of stepping out of that. What is holding me back of doing the things I wanted to do? What holds me back to be different? The more I thought about it, the clearer it became.

I never did anything with my desire to try to give other people another perspective on things, because I’m not great at expressing myself in words, which causes me to think I won’t get my point across, or that people won’t listen to what I have to say anyway.

I never really flirt with people, because I’m scared I’ll get rejected.

I never talk about my dreams and wishes, because I’m scared people will laugh at me.

There are so many other things I want to do, but end up not doing.

And they all have one thing in common: fear.

I am scared of failure. And I dare to say I am not the only one.

Once I cleared that out for myself, I started to think about what I could do about it. I started to search other blogs, videos, audio… And they also had one thing in common.

Just dream it. Just do it.

They all said success comes to people who work for it, to the ones who keep going, to the ones who don’t quit, how hard it may seem, but also the ones who keep dreaming.

The longer I thought about it, the more I started to believe in it. I only needed to start somewhere. And this is where a lot of people go wrong. This is the part where ‘fear’ ruins it. We are scared of stepping out of the crowd and do what they want instead of what someone else wants us to do or what everyone else does.

The lack of confidence is also a big part of this. We don’t believe in ourselves. We don’t think we can do certain things, but guess what, you can do more than you think. You’ll find out once you actually do it.

Then there is a part where we are scared to share our dreams with others. This can really help, especially when you get support from the ones you tell.

The saying “The past is the past.” is not without meaning. We tend to look back into our pasts too much. We see the failures and place them into our futures, telling ourselves it’s not going to happen because you’ve failed before.

Then there is procrastination. For all you know there might be no tomorrow! I’m not saying you should spend all your money on a holiday everyday because it might be the last day you’re living, but take the first step towards your dream. It can be anywhere. Even if you don’t know where to start, start somewhere! The best wat to start is simply by starting.

Once you’ve started, obstacles along the way to your dream might stop you and make you want to quit. I’ve learned from experiences from others who have success that this is the moment you have to push yourself. This is the moment you’re about to get where you want to be.

Put yourself in circumstances you want to be in and if they don’t exist, create them. There is no such thing as blaming the lack of your success on your circumstances.

This right here basically describes this whole post. Your comfort zone is most likely to hold you back so here are a few questions you can ask yourself in order to get out of that comfort zone:

  1. What do you want? (Simply thinking about what makes you happy will get you motivated)
  2. What stops you from following your dreams? (Remove them from your life)
  3. Do you want to be like everyone else? (Different is the key to success)
  4. Do you feel like you are living for yourself or for others? (Be selfish. It’s your life, not theirs. If you feel like you should do something back for them, because they cared for you for example, they probably wanted the best for you, so they should allow you to do what makes you happy. There will be enough to give back once you’ve reached your goal)

I want you to think about these questions and answer them in the comments below, or even just in your head.

Here is a list of things I’ve learned:

  1. If you can dream it, you can do it!
  2. If you don’t do it, you don’t want it bad enough.
  3. Quitters never win.
  4. Life is too short for “I’ll do it tomorrow”.
  5. People who try are further than people who never start at all.
  6. you never know untill you try.

Now go do what you’ve always wanted to do. Now. As in right now. This moment. Go!

  1. What a wonderful post! It sums up so well why I’m having a go at blogging. Writing does not come naturally to me, so this is really putting me very much outside my comfort zone. I’m hoping that my current posts – which will become my ‘past’ posts, will take less angst and time to produce, and that I learn to just write in the moment – to ‘do it’ right now!
